i wrote this while in a plane flying home from visiting my partner at the time, which is who the last line is eluding to. "telling me how it smells" is very literal as i have no sense of smell, nor have i ever. (this was written and recorded pre-covid too. im just like this lol)
they are no longer in my life but i am still quite fond of whatever weird style

i stare down at baltimore
from a thousand miles above
watching clusters of houses
coil around each other like snakes
in the cold

houses in rows
following the river like stones
it makes you feel too small

and i know
that the ride home
will hurt more
without my hand in yours

so i take the train
and i sit in the freezing rain
and remember you telling me how it smells
